While the year is still young, many people, inspired by good intentions, are setting their goals for the coming months. Some are already coming to grips with the realization they’ve failed on their quests to better themselves. Reaching for clearly defined goals, casting visions and taking steps to accomplish them are valuable exercises, but they are meaningless without the help and direction of the Holy Spirit who is our teacher, our comforter and our guide.
“Dare to have a dream, but remember–not everyone will agree with your dream.” –– Pastor Donnie.
One tactic of Satan, our defeated enemy, is to cause us to shy away from dreaming and to trick us into casting aside visions we think are impossible. But, really. When has God not been able to accomplish the impossible through ordinary people?
It’s also important to guard your vision. Because it takes faith to accomplish what God has put in our hearts, it’s important we only share our dreams with trusted, Word-filled encouragers who will not speak doubt and unbelief over them. Faith comes by hearing. You’re either hearing the Word of God, which empowers you to win, or you’re building faith for failure.
“Go back to the basics…. ‘Without a vision, the people perish. (Proverbs 29:18)’” –– Pastor Donnie
Habakuk 2:2 says, “Write down the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”
If we have no vision, no clear direction, we as believers, are not set on a path to accomplishing God’s will on the earth. To Satan, we’ve “perished.” To him, we’re as good as dead when we haven’t lived to our God-given potential to introduce the hurting, dying people around us to Jesus, who can work miracles in their lives and add them to our team.
To identify your vision, three steps are necessary. You must, first, read God’s Word to understand the broad vision he’s given us as the Body of Christ. Second, you must, with the help of the Holy Spirit, identify your purpose in being on the earth. Finally, you must invite Him to help you live every moment of every day according to the plan He has for you. When we all do our part, the broader scope of His purpose is accomplished in this world. With God, teamwork makes the dream work.
“The provision of the Lord always follows the vision of the Lord.” –– Pastor Donnie
Remember that if God has given you a dream to accomplish, he has equipped you with the grace and the ability to do it. We aren’t working in our own strength to perform miracles. It is God working through us.
Philippians 2:13 says. “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
